Bangkok Patpong Red Light District Guide

The infamous Super Pussy Club in Patpong

Patpong is the original Bangkok red light district and Bangkok’s reputation for sex and go go bars began in this area of Silom Road in the 1960s. It consists of two short, pedestrianised lanes (sois) off the main Silom Road and is a major tourist attraction, both for its night market and the sex appeal. There are go go bars galore, though better options can be had elsewhere in the city for pussy, such as Nana Plaza.

Bangkok Patpong red light district is just a few minutes on foot from Sala Daeng Skytrain station. It’s all a bit chaotic and unpleasant for some, especially when hot and steamy, but can also be lots of fun for those looking for sex with girls and ladyboys. It’s definitely worth a look for an hour or two if you’ve never been.

All types come here, from single males looking for sex, to young couples interested in seeing a sex show for a bit of fun, to families trawling the night market. The sex tourist has dozens of go go girls to choose from, complete with sexy women, pole dancing and sex shows. The infamous ‘ping pong’ shows also started here and continue to this day.

The Bangkok Patpong red light district go go bars consist of a stage and pole-dancers wearing bikinis, wholly different from your typical beer bar with bar girls. You can come in and watch for free but will have to order a beer and will be pestered into buying a lady drink when one sits by you. If you fancy one and are looking for a shag, simply ask how much and then pay the ‘bar fine’ (around 500 baht). Cost for sex is from 2,000 baht up to 4,000 for all night.

Can you bring girls to your hotel?
Some Bangkok hotels don’t mind tourists bringing bar girls back to their room as long as they are discreet, while others charge extra or forbid it altogether. To save the embarrassment we’ve enquired with most of them and listed those that are suited to bachelors; see the list, rates and booking here.
Sex Shows in Patpong
The sex shows are usually up on the first level (above the bars). Touts will pester you on the street to visit and will tell you anything to get you through the door, such as cheap beer (or free beer). By all means have a look, but keep your head and avoid getting drunk in such places. Rip-offs are rife and that few beers can run into thousands (of baht), so be sure to pay for beer as you go.

As to the sex shows themselves, once you’ve taken in the ping pong action (where the lady shoots the orbs out of her pussy) and unsexy shows, you’ll soon get bored. For better sex shows and finer girls, try Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy (both on Sukhumvit Road). Girls go naked at the latter and it’s much more laidback. Nana Plaza’s hotspot is Angelwitch.

Gays can also enjoy Patpong, with nearby Patpong 4 featuring many gay bars. These are not go go bars, but there are many options for picking up men. Also along here are several upmarket lounge bars where you can pick up Thai girls. Soi Thaniya, also on Silom, is an up and coming sex centre aimed at the Japanese.

Meeting horny Thai girls for free:
Many ‘bachelors’ visiting Bangkok take the easy way out by visiting girlie bars and go go bars, but there are also regular girls not on the game that are keen on meeting foreigners for a fling. Horny and lonely Bangkok (and provincial) girls go looking for sex online with visiting or resident Westerners. They aren’t expecting money or a long-term boyfriend and haven’t been with many other men. One of the best places to meet these chicks is Adult Friend Finder, where there are more than 10,000 registered Thai female members.

Patpong also has several music bars with DJs and live music, clad with hostesses and some freelancing hookers. These Bangkok Patpong red light district bars are typically less in your face, but also come with hostesses that you can negotiate and take home for sex. This area also has loads of cafés and food vendors.

Bet you didn’t know that!
The two lanes known as Patpong was the first go go area in Bangkok. The area was bought in 1946 by the Patpongsiri family for US$3,000 – today worth well over US$100 million. A small price to pay for having your name associated with go go bars and ping pong shows.
