Prostitutes can be had in Samui just like any other tourist destination in Thailand, though compared with some places – like Pattaya and Bangkok – it is casual and in easy to find areas. Hookers in Koh Samui work as hostesses, providing punters with drink and chat, and will return to your hotel for sex for a fee.
Koh Samui prostitutes are easy to find, being a major attraction for the typical single male traveller to the island. Though technically illegal, prostitution is tolerated and authorities turn a blind eye. It’s not exactly hidden either; head to Chaweng or Lamai and you will be presented with oodles of girlie ‘beer bars’ and go-go bars.
They’re not all into ‘pay 4 play’ (P4P) sex, but those that are are pretty obvious. They’re not sleazy dives down dodgy back-alley streets either, with as good a décor as any and an atmosphere that is relaxed and fun. You can chill with a beer and not talk to the girls at all until someone special perks your interest.
As to price, you’re talking around 2,000 baht (50 euros) for a night of sex and whatnot, plus a smaller fee (bar fine). Koh Samui prostitutes can be sweet and easy going or laborious and dull, but, generally, Samui prostitutes are a lot more laidback than those in the busier resorts.
How it works – finding prostitutes in Samui
Meeting with hookers in Samui is easy, and is not in the least bit dangerous, embarrassing or shady. While illegal by law and not for everyone, nobody cares (not even the police) and it’s big business. The girls are mostly harmless and there are no sleazy pimps on street corners getting in your face.
The main areas for prostitutes in Samui are Chaweng and Lamai. Some others, like Bang Rak, also have them (well, they can be found just about anywhere if you’re desperate), but Chaweng and Lamai easily have the best choice and quality.
In Chaweng, the area around Chaweng Lake is the best place to head to; the body of water about five minutes on foot from the beach and just across the main road. For Lamai, head for the arcade halfway down the main street. Both areas are loaded with open-air bars full of hookers, many with pool tables, sports on TVs, and music.
If you’re shy or not great with women, don’t worry about it, as they’ll come to you. If you fancy a particular one, just make eye contact, and, unless you’re extremely old or ugly, or they are taken already, they will also come to you. If a certain place doesn’t take your fancy, you become bored, or the hooker doesn’t look great close up, feel free to move on; there’s no pressure.
Once sat with you, she’ll generally as you to buy her a drink. Prices are marked up (her commission), but you’re also taking her time. If raring to go, ask her how much, just like that. All night is anywhere from 1,500-3,000 baht, while ‘short time’ (an hour or two) is typically from 1,000 baht. You also pay a ‘bar fine’ (upfront) of about 500 baht, which goes direct to the bar.
Once at your hotel, it’s up to you, but it is always best to ask her what she’s willing to do before you agree to take her out – i.e., will she give you a BJ, does she enjoy tit wanks, through the back door; things of this nature. Honestly, don’t be shy about asking this, although approach it in a fun way while having a drink.
Keep in mind that Koh Samui prostitutes are not all peasant farm girls. Some hookers may be students making a bit of money between semesters, while others may have no other option in order to make money for family back home. All deserve a measure of respect, but avoid bending over backwards, or indeed waiing them.
