Pattaya is littered with hundreds of beer bars
Although Bangkok has a massive amount of bars and more class, Pattaya is the nightlife and sex capital of Thailand. There are hundreds and hundreds of girlie bars staffed by thousands of bar girls, along with a great many standard pubs, live music venues and lively discos. It is the perfect place for a pub crawl.
Walking Street in South Pattaya is the best known nightlife centre in the decadent resort. It resides at the south end of Beach Road, just off the beach, and is wall to wall bars and girls. Most of them are open-air and as the street is pedestrianised at night, you can simply amble along and take it all in. Walking Street also has massage parlours, pubs, and Thai boxing, along with its beer bars, discos, and go-go bars.
Central Pattaya includes the bustling sois 6, 7 and 8, which is another mass of bars not unlike those of Walking Street. Although not as crazy as Walking Street, it is also not as touristy and is better (arguably) for picking up prostitutes for a spot of sex. Soi 6 has beer bars, go gos, ladyboy bars, English-style pubs; the lot. The price of pussy here is cheaper than Walking Street.
North Pattaya also has nightlife options, yet is much more laidback and better for trendy bars and lounges. The north is good for cabarets, though, with the famous Tiffany and Alcazar cabarets known for their beautiful ladyboy shows. Quieter Naklua is farther north again. Meeting horny Thai girls for free
Many 'bachelors' visiting Pattaya take the easy way out by visiting girlie bars and go go bars, but there are also regular girls not on the game that are keen on meeting foreigners for a fling. Gays should check out Boyz Town (Pattayaland Soi 3 across to Soi 1), down in South Pattaya. It has many gay beer bars and go go bars and the young lads here are said to be cute. Sunee Plaza is more relaxed and quieter and is not far from Boyz Town, while gay tourists in Jomtien should check out the Jomtien Complex (off Thappraya Road) and Dongtan Beach.
Sex with girls, guys and ladyboys (girl/guys) is around 1,000 short-time and 1,500-2,000 baht for all night. Despite Pattaya’s raucousness, actually getting laid for the night is all very relaxed. Best bet is to order a beer and get chatting to them. The subject of you taking them back to your hotel, or indeed upstairs in the bar, will no doubt come up. Pay the bar fine and you’re away.
Apart from all the sexiness, there are other Pattaya nightlife options away from the bar scene. There are many quality pubs and lounges scattered all about the resort, along with star rated restaurants and fast food places in the main shopping malls. The malls also come with side attractions, like museums and arcade games, so are good for those with kids. There are also Thai kickboxing rings around town as well as bowling alleys.
